Favourite’s List: Spring 2016
Welcome to my Better-Late-Than-Never Spring Favourites List.
A very vegetablely vibe this season – one of my favourite things about the warmer seasons. Well, really I love vegetables in every season.
My Favourite Lists are all are about helping you to live a complete, balanced and healthy life. This is our philosophy at New Leaf Naturopathic Health.
Life has been pretty hectic at New Leaf lately – moving my practice out of the Ultimo clinic and being 100% back in Marrickville, creating new herbal teas, having a successful Marrickville Festival, being asked to run a few workshops and managing to stay on top of my self-care. Phew.. life can sure be busy. Thank goodness for herbal adaptogens to be balanced and on track.
There are some excellent things on this list that are well worth checking out.

This book – Lucky Peach Presents Power Vegetables!: Turbocharged Recipes for Vegetables with Guts.
I’ve been a fan of Lucky Peach for a while and their hip take on food. Blending cultures and making vegetables the hero, this book is fun and tasty. I made the Shiitake “Bacon” last night and it was tasty! Follow their Instagram account for inspro. -
KOJI.
What is koji I hear you ask. Well, it’s a miracle umami taste sensation. Made from fermented rice it is used in Japanese cooking and sake making. I’ve been marinating vegetables & tofu in it before cooking. You can pick some up from Tokyo Mart or online (maybe here). I can guarantee that covering your vege in it will have even the fussiest kid eating more – adding a umami taste to the humble veg makes them irresistible! -
Eating High-Quality Vegetables….
I love vegetables. I therefore also love my vegetable box guys – Shane & Amanda bring the goods every fortnight. High quality, packed with flavour produce is the name of the game and Shane has given his tips on how you can pick the best vege. Read about it on Broadsheet here. He’s a total legend! -
My new herbal tea: Turmeric Wellness Tea
This one has been ruminating around my brain for a while and I’m so happy I’ve finally made it. Launched at the Marrickville Festival last month this combines the anti-inflammatory powers of Turmeric, Ginger, Black Pepper and Lemon Myrtle. Pick it up from the clinic or message me if you’d like me to post some.

Our fancy new clinic entrance
Harmonie and I have been dreaming about sprucing up our Marrickville clinic’s entrance for about two years, and we have finally done it. We think it looks AMAZING. Bright yellow and welcoming – we reckon it brings the HAPPY VIBES to Marrickville Rd.Turmeric tea Front -
David Attenborough is back!
Who doesn’t love Sir David? Seriously – what an incredible man. He has done so much to promote peace on the planet and further our understanding of the natural world. Now we have Planet Earth 2 to look forward to. I can’t wait to see this documentary! Have you seen the trailer yet? Check it out here.
