Green Tahini Recipe & The Secret to a Healthy Life
Everyone wants to know how to make positive changes, healthy dietary choices and for it not to be a chore. So, I’ll let you in on the secret to a healthy life.
The secret to a healthy life is preparation.
That’s all there is too it folks. Just be prepared.
Preparation is all you need to make being healthy easy. Here are some tips:
-
Have a well stocked kitchen – Have all your staples ready. Your oils, vinegars, nuts, seeds, grains, pseudo-grains, tahini, tins of tomatoes, legumes and spices – have them at hand and whipping up healthy dinners will be quick and easy.
-
Get a vege box – The quality of vegetables you get from the supermarket are often very poor. They go off by the time you get them home. You can get high quality vegetables from vege box schemes, co-ops or growers markets. If you get vegetables that will last in the fridge all week then your midweek meals will be packed fill of healthy vegetables. (I use these guys, but there are so many around)
-
Set realistic goals – How many times have you heard yourself say “From now on I’m never doing ___ again!” or “Everyday I’m going to do __!” and so often you let yourself down? Set achievable goals, take one day at a time. Be realistic and take your time and a healthy life will be easy.

Make use of your Sundays – Spend some time on the weekend preparing some food for the week. Once you get in the habit of doing this your lunches, dinners and snacks throughout the week will be hassle free.
So – simple points to help you learn the secret to a healthy life.
My weekends are always busy – clinic in Marrickville on Saturdays, relaxing with friends on Saturday evening, often brunch out on Sundays, a swim or a bike ride and pottering around the house. I love spending time in the kitchen as well. I love cooking – it’s one of my favourite pastimes. I also find it key to conquering the secret to a healthy life!
This weekend I whipped up a few things for the week ahead – a tub of hummus, some green tahini, a Life Changing Loaf of Bread (recipe from My New Roots – one of my heroes) and a frittata. All up probably about 1 hour in the kitchen, not bad to help me eat well during the week.
Green Tahini Recipe
Spread this tasty dip on anything you want – sandwiches, carrot sticks, grilled fish, a dollop on a salad – whatever you like. I got the original recipe from a good friend of mine, and I’ve mixed it up a bit. You can change the recipe as well – use different herbs, spices and flavours as you please.
Tahini is very good for you – it has protein, essential fatty acids & omega 3s, plenty of essential minerals like calcium. Heaps of calcium!
