How are you? RU Ok?Day 2016
Today, September 8th is RU OK?Day. It’s a day to stop and check in on people you care about to see how they are.
So I’m checking in on you – how are you today?
RU OK?Day is a Suicide Prevention initiative set up to raised awareness about mental health in Australia and impact it has on the thousands of people who are having a tough time.
Taking a few minutes to drop someone a text, or pick up the phone or even write them a letter can make all the difference. I encourage you to do so with a friend who you may suspect is having a tough time.
At my clinic I support my clients through some pretty tough times. I see the impact poor physical health has on their mental health. It is such a pleasure to help them along these journeys and watch them get better.
For my clients who struggle with mental health I talk about creating a tool kit to help them through the tough times.
This could include checking in with a therapist or psychologist, or incorporating an exercise habit, making sure they’re eating proper meals with balanced proteins, fats and veggies. Maybe it’s the addition of a herbal tonic to help reduce anxiety, settle their sensitive tummies or encourage a deeper night’s sleep. Or just having some calming herbal tea and reducing coffees.
This Tool Kit is just about having things within your reach which you know will help you feel better. They don’t have to be grand plans – but simple tasks or reminders that when added together make a real difference.
These are simple steps you can try to help you feel better. I encourage you to build your own tool kit.
Did you know that naturopathy can help with depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions. Please get in touch if you’d like to know more.
If you are having a tough time at the moment and can’t see the wood for the trees please reach out to someone.
