Turn your FOMO into JOMO
In our eternal quest to help our clients find RESILIENCE, we love to offer strategies and ideas that may resonate. We know that this one does. So when you start to think about your New Year New You promises, it should all start with this one… JOMO – or The Joy Of Missing Out.
The concept of self care is always big news. It is so often spoken about that it is getting to the point that some of us may need to start new self caring strategies to get over the stress of self care.
We know it’s hard to find a way to unwind in this busy city life. But it is important. Whether it be taking a long walk by yourself, taking a bath, or just sitting down and getting lost in a book – finding what works for you and your self care will help find balance in the everyday stresses of life.
Your Self Care Routine?
As we transition into the new year it’s a good idea to find out what self care means to you, so you can set yourself up to not burnout as the year goes along, full steam ahead (its almost February already!)
In 2019 we want to ditch the concept of FOMO – fear of missing out. FOMO is JOMO’s evil twin. It makes us do things purely because we feel like we might miss out on something good if we don’t.
Social media heightens this response. Constant scrolling can leave us feeling sad about not being invited to something or not being on the pulse of a current event or the latest happening. The social pressure is widespread.
This is where we insert JOMO!
The joy of missing out. A self empowering concept that allows you to spend time with yourself, and actually enjoy it. Something that we believe in the clinic is the starting point for sure self care.
JOMO is about enjoying your life as it is. It is about being content with where you are and not constantly comparing yourself to others. As cliched as it sounds, it’s about living in the present. It’s about having the willpower to say no, without feeling guilty. It’s about respecting yourself.
Lets make 2019 is about prioritising you. To get you started here are a few things you can work on to really capture the essence of JOMO.
